Kim Jong Un may go to the bathroom like everybody else – but what happens when he flushes is like something out of a John le Carré spy novel.

That is because the North Korea strongman travels with his own personal toilet so his wastes cannot be seized and analyzed by enemy agents.

"Rather than using a public restroom, the leader of North Korea has a personal toilet that follows him around when he travels," former North Korean military guard Lee Yun-keol told The Washington Post. "The leader's excretions contain information about his health status so they can't be left behind."

So, when Kim flew to Singapore this week for his historic summit with President Donald Trump, the toilet came with him, with his staff keeping it under close guard so nothing leaked out, so to speak. It is then brought back to North Korea and privately disposed of.

While the precaution might seem extreme, there appears to be some precedent for it.

According to Slate, Joseph Stalin, who led the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1952 had his secret police swipe the excrement of other world leaders, study them in a lab, and base psychological profiles on the findings.

Stalin's poop-collectors reportedly swiped the waste from Mao Zedong, the founding father of the People's Republic of China, from special toilets they built for his 1949 visit to Moscow.
