Progressive speakers will dominate the commencement addresses at America's top 100 colleges and universities this spring.
Only three of the top 100-ranked universities in the country will be hosting a high-profile conservative speaker for their 2022 commencement addresses, according to a report by the Young America's Foundation, a conservative youth organization.
Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin will address graduates at Virginia Tech University, and football player Tim Tebow is set to speak to the class of 2022 at his alma mater, the University of Florida.
Boston College, meanwhile, will have conservative Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis at its 2022 commencement festivities.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will be speaking at Ivy League Brown University; pop singer Taylor Swift will delight fans at New York University; U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield will be at the University of Wisconsin-Madison; author Bob Woodward will speak at Boston University; and Biden administration official Samantha Power will speak at Johns Hopkins University.
President Joe Biden is scheduled to address graduates at his undergraduate alma mater, the University of Delaware.
Some 53 top-ranked colleges will host liberal speakers, according to the report. The remaining schools either do not have an announced speaker, have multiple ceremonies and speakers, have selected a university administrator, or will have a speaker of undetermined politics, The Washington Examiner reported.
The Young America's Foundation compiles its annual report on the political leanings of commencement speakers by analyzing the political donations of each speaker, as well as public statements and activities while serving in government office.
"For the past 30 years –– since Young America's Foundation has been keeping tabs on commencement addresses –– a disproportionate number of speakers at our nation's top colleges and universities have been liberal ideologues, big donors to liberal causes, and members of the woke media," according to the website of Young America Foundation.
"Where are leading conservatives like Ron DeSantis, or Peter Schweizer who has a NYT bestselling book on China's influence? Where are leaders like Kristi Noem or Ted Cruz, who led the charge against government overreach during COVID?"
