Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said on Monday that national security adviser John Bolton had briefed him on “escalating tensions with Iran,” and told President Donald Trump to “stand firm.”
Graham tweeted on Monday morning that he “Just received a briefing from National Security Advisor Bolton about escalating tensions with Iran.”
“It is clear that over the last several weeks Iran has attacked pipelines and ships of other nations and created threat streams against American interests in Iraq,” he added.
The senator complained last week that the Trump administration was leaving legislators like himself in the dark when it comes to Iran and the recent move by the State Department to remove American personnel from Iraq.
“No, I feel we haven’t been well informed," Graham told The Hill last Wednesday. "I don’t think it’s fair for us to walk around wondering.”
He wrote in a second tweet on Monday, “The fault lies with the Iranians, not the United States or any other nation,” and that “If the Iranian threats against American personnel and interests are activated we must deliver an overwhelming military response.”
