Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., wants answers from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in the wake of a bombshell claim that the Department of Justice official was involved in discussions to remove President Donald Trump from office nearly two years ago.

"Yeah, I would like to know what happened. You're having a conversation about whether or not you're going to invoke the 25th Amendment," Graham said according to The Hill.

"I imagine if the shoe were on the other foot, my Democratic colleagues would want to know about that conversation if it involved a Democrat. Absolutely, I want to hear from him at the appropriate time."

Graham's remarks came after former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe told "60 Minutes" that during a tense period in May 2017 in which Trump fired James Comey as FBI director, there were talks at the highest levels of the DOJ about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office over allegations that he obstructed justice. McCabe also confirmed that Rosenstein's offer to wear a wire and secretly record Trump potentially saying something incriminating was taken seriously.

"I was speaking to the man who had just run for the presidency and just won the election for the presidency. And who might have done so with the aid of the government of Russia, our most formidable adversary on the world stage," McCabe said. "And that was something that troubled me greatly."

The DOJ is investigating whether the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 presidential election over Democrat Hillary Clinton. No evidence proving that claim has been made public.
