Sen. Lindsey Graham compared Sen. Tom Cotton to Rep. Steve King over his plans for immigration reform.
"We're not going to end family immigration for [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program] DACA. The Tom Cotton approach has no viability here," the South Carolina Republican told MSNBC on Friday.
"He's become sort of the Steve King of the Senate. I like Tom, but on immigration, he's putting something on the table that there's just no market for in Phase 1."
Sens. Cotton and David Perdue proposed an end to chain migration, which allows U.S. citizens and permanent residents to sponsor family members for entry into the United States, The Hill reported.
Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, has been an advocate for more restrictions on immigration and for ending DACA, The Hill reported.
Graham said that he would not support a 30-day continuing resolution to fund the government, telling MSNBC: "I'm not going to vote for 30 days of chaos without any concept of how to bring it to an end."
He said he believes in the urgency of a fix for the DACA recipients in the budget plans.
"I'm not going to continue this game with DACA recipients' lives. A lot of people on my side say, 'what's the urgency?' Well, put yourself in their shoes," Graham said.
"We're inside the 10-yard line. We need a White House that can make the decision and stick to it," he added.
