Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., slammed actor Christian Bale for saying Satan inspired him when he played her father Dick Cheney in the movie "Vice."

"Satan probably inspired him to do this, too," Liz Cheney tweeted Sunday along with a link to a 2008 report in The Independent about Bale's arrest in connection with an allegation of assault. Bale was ultimately not charged with a crime.

Bale made his remarks while accepting his award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes Awards.

He thanked "Vice" director Adam McKay for casting him to play someone "absolutely charisma-free and reviled by everyone" and said from that point forward he would be "cornering the market" on playing "charisma-free a—holes."

"What do you think, [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell next?" Bale joked.

"Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration," he added.

Bale denied the assault allegation and was fully cleared three weeks following the incident because of "insufficient evidence."

"We can today confirm that we have advised the Metropolitan Police Service that the actor Christian Bale should not face any charges following an incident which occurred in relation to his mother and sister at the Dorchester hotel on 21 July this year," a police spokesperson told The Guardian at the time.
