Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., one of President Donald Trump's strongest defenders, said he is not impressed by the president's defense team's use of technology to present its case.
Democrats, Gaetz told Politico, have been presenting their case against Trump like it is "cable news," but the defense team's case has been presented more like "an eighth-grade book report."
"Actually, no, I take that back," he amended, as an eighth-grader would know how to use iPads and PowerPoint.
Meanwhile, several other Republicans grudgingly praised the Democrat impeachment managers' performance while making their case to the full Senate, reports Business Insider.
The evidence itself is news to many senators, Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., said.
"Nine out of 10 senators will tell you they haven't read a full transcript of the proceedings in the House," Kennedy said, "and the 10th senator who says he has is lying."
The House impeachment managers took the stage Thursday for the second day of opening arguments, after giving senators and the public an overview Wednesday about their case, claiming the president withheld military aid and a White House visit from Ukraine to force it into launching investigations aimed at former Vice President Joe Biden, considered his primary challenger for the White House.
Democrats will have one more day to make their opening arguments after which Trump's defense team will begin its rebuttal.
