Members of the media are calling out one of their own after NBC's Matt Lauer failed to challenge Donald Trump's false claim about the Iraq War during a forum Wednesday night.
Trump told Lauer he "was totally against the war in Iraq" in 2002.
"You can look at Esquire magazine from 2004. You can look at before that. And I was against the war in Iraq, I said it's going to totally destabilize the Middle East, which it has."
That was a false statement, but Lauer moved on to the next question without asking a follow-up.
For that, Lauer is feeling the heat from his media colleagues.
Vox posted video of the exchange.
For the record, NBC later admitted that Trump was mistaken in his claim of not supporting the Iraq War.
"Trump admitted to supporting the Iraq war in 2002 before the war began though he did progressively change his decision publicly within the next year," the network's Political Unit writes.
