Megyn Kelly is contemplating a return to television this October, which would be in time to cover the 2020 presidential race, the New York Post's Page Six has reported.
In recent months Kelly has been spending time with her three children, learning to cook and taking exercise classes.
She was fired by NBC News as host of the 9 a.m. hour of the "Today" show after she made a comment during a panel discussion on "costume police" dictating Halloween, wondering aloud what was racist about white people wearing blackface and vice versa on the holiday, Mediaite reported.
Sources say she is still "emotionally scarred" from her unceremonious exit from the network and "needs a break after decades of hard work," according to Page Six.
Kelly received a $30 million payout in January after finalizing her departure from NBC, meaning she was given the full $69 million agreed to in her initial contract.
The sources added the jounralist "doesn't want to rush into something just for the sake of it."
Kelly became a part of the last presidential election cycle when she became involved in a public feud with then-candidate Donald Trump after she moderated the first Republican presidential debate in August 2015.
