Fox News dangled a whopping $100 million contract in front of their star anchor Megyn Kelly in a failed bid to keep her, according to a report on Mediaite.

Kelly announced Tuesday she is leaving Fox for a lucrative new deal with NBC, where she'll debut a daily daytime talk show, host a Sunday evening political program, and appear on the Peacock Network's breaking news.

But Kelly's exit came following a strenuous effort by Fox to convince her to remain — including the reported $100 million package.

A source close to Kelly told Mediaite the offer of $25 million per year for four years was made directly by Lachlan Murdoch, executive co-chairman of News Corp and 21st Century Fox.

"We are told, unequivocally, that Kelly never even countered Fox's generous $100 million offer, because she had made up her mind to move on. In fact, the Fox offer is far higher financially than the one she ultimately accepted from NBC," Mediaite's Rachel Stockman writes.
