Several fundraisers involving members of President Donald Trump’s campaign have been called off or delayed, but unlike other recent events, the campaign has not cited concerns about the coronavirus.
The Trump campaign on Monday canceled a “Women for Trump” bus tour that was set to take place over three days, traveling through several battleground states, including Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio, but the campaign has denied that the decision was made because of the coronavirus, saying it was due to “scheduling conflicts,” according to Fox News.
Politico reports that Melania Trump canceled a fundraiser scheduled for next week in Beverly Hills, California at about the same time that a state of emergency was declared by Los Angeles County due to the coronavirus outbreak, also citing scheduling conflicts. She is currently scheduled to host an event at the president’s Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago, on March 25.
Despite these cancellations, Trump has continued to make public appearances. He met with roughly 100 VIP donors at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday. His campaign is expected to announce a rally on Tuesday, according to Politico. On Saturday, he’s set to speak at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual meeting in Las Vegas and then attend a fundraiser hosted by major GOP donor Sheldon Adelson.
