The former Israeli ambassador to the United States on Friday called the Trump administration peace plan “very good for the Palestinians,” and called its inclusion of Arab countries in the process a key to success.
In an interview on Newsmax TV’s “Greg Kelly Show,” ex-diplomat Daniel Ayalon called the plan, spearheaded by President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, a “good” and “balanced plan.”
“What I like about President Trump so much is because ... he understands deeply the world and international relations, and also knows who are America's friends and its enemies — and who is the best friend and ally of the United States in the region and beyond,” he said.
“This plan is very good for the Palestinians,” he said, adding all Israel wants in return “is security and recognition."
“This is a good balanced and realistic plan,” he declared, lamenting the Palestinians rejected it and saying they “never even read it.”
He said the current peace plan brings into the process other Arab countries that are Israeli allies.
“So hopefully these countries will lean on the Palestinians,” he said. “This is the only way to bring them to the table.”
