Vowing an end to wasting "billions of dollars a year on illegal immigration," President Donald Trump called on congressional Democrats to help pass "strong (but fair) laws" on immigration or else his administration "will be forced to play a much tougher hand."

President Trump's remarks came via Twitter as another migrant caravan marches through Mexico toward the U.S. border in time for the midterm elections.

"The United States has been spending Billions of Dollars a year on Illegal Immigration," Trump tweeted. "This will not continue. Democrats must give us the votes to pass strong (but fair) laws. If not, we will be forced to play a much tougher hand."

President Trump promised to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border in the 2016 presidential campaign, and, thus far, Democrats in Congress have been successful resisting the approval of the approximate $26 billion needed for structures, surveillance, technology, and security personnel under the Trump administration initiatives.
