The American people must choose Republican leadership in the midterm elections in order to continue the country’s economic success and prevent the Democrats from rolling back the clock, Vice President Mike Pence argued in a USA Today column on Tuesday.
Since President Donald Trump was elected in 2016, Pence writes, businesses have created nearly 4.5 million jobs, the unemployment rate has hit its lowest in 49 years, and that, after a decade-long lapse, the U.S. is the world’s most competitive economy once again, Pence argued that reelecting Republican would deliver even more results.
The vice president insisted that this progress has also been due to tax cuts, eliminating red tape at a record pace and forging new trade deals that are “free, fair and reciprocal and put American jobs and farmers first,” as well as “enforcing our laws and securing our borders.”
While the GOP has brought results, Pence argued that Democrats have blindly concentrated only on resisting, insisting that, if they win these great accomplishments could come to an end.
He said Democrats proved the last time they ran Congress that “their agenda meant fewer jobs, lower wages, slower growth and less opportunity for hardworking Americans.”
Pence added that this time around the Democrats’ policies are even more liberal and dangerous, because “They want massive tax hikes, weaker borders and a complete government takeover of health care that would hurt our families and seniors.”
