President Donald Trump threw his support behind Vice President Mike Pence to remain on the 2020 ticket.
His comments came during an interview on Fox Business Network's “Mornings with Maria.” On Sunday, Andrew Stein, a former president of the New York City Council, had suggested former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley replace Pence.
“I’m proud to have founded the Democrats for Trump movement in 2016,” Stein wrote in a column for The Wall Street Journal. “President Trump’s pro-growth policies have revived the stagnating U.S. economy, and he deserves a second term. But to have the best chance of re-election, he should replace Vice President Mike Pence on the ticket with Nikki Haley”
However, Trump told Bartiromo he has no intention of doing that.
“I love Nikki,” he said. “She's endorsed me. She’s my friend. She's part of my campaign. But Mike has been a great vice president.”
And he added: “Nikki Haley represented us so well and our country so well. I love Nikki. And there's places for Nikki. Nikki's future is great, but Mike Pence is the person 100%. Yeah, we won. We won together. We have tremendous evangelical support. We have tremendous support from every angle. You can't break up a team like that.”
