Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has no interest in taking up a Democratic idea to erase the 2017 tax cuts in order to fund a massive infrastructure plan, calling it "a non-starter."
As The Washington Post reported, McConnell spoke with reporters Tuesday and was asked about the deal struck between President Donald Trump and Democratic leaders to work on a $2 trillion infrastructure bill.
When it was pointed out to McConnell that some Democrats would like to see the aforementioned tax cuts erased to pay for the legislation, he was blunt.
"That's a non-starter," McConnell said. "This tax bill is what's generated this robust economy, and the last thing we wanna do is step on all of this growth by stepping back and repealing, in effect, what has generated all of this prosperity and low unemployment."
