Despite still having some concerns, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., says Democrats hope to support President Donald Trump’s United States-Mexico-Canada agreement.

Pelosi made her remarks on Tuesday during an interview with Jim Cramer on CNBC.

“But we hope that we’re on a path to yes,” she said. “The most important issue outstanding is enforceability.”

If approved, USMCA would replace the North American Free Trade Agreement.

And Pelosi said she is unconcerned that approving USMCA would hand the president a victory ahead of the 2020 election.

“The idea that we would give a victory to the president is irrelevant,” she said. “It’s a victory for the American people.”

Some labors groups have expressed concern that the agreement will not prevent outsourcing.

Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, told CNBC on Tuesday the deal “does have enforceable” labor and environmental standards.
