House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., missed outgoing House Speaker Paul Ryan's, R-Wis., farewell speech Wednesday, telling reporters she "was busy going other things."
"This might come as a shock to you, but I was busy doing other things at the time," said Pelosi, who is expected to be the next speaker when the new Congress is seated in January, at a press conference when asked about Ryan’s remarks, according to The Hill. "I wish him well as he goes forward."
She added, "I did not really have a chance to go to the speech and hear what he had to say, but I wish him and his family season's greetings and best wishes for a wonderful future."
Ryan said at the Library of Congress on Wednesday the "complex problems" facing the United States are "solvable if our politics will allow it."
