NBC on Monday deleted its controversial Oprah-president tweet, blaming a third party and saying it wasn't "meant to be a political statement."

NBC rankled conservatives and Donald Trump Jr. over a tweet calling Oprah Winfrey "our next president" during Sunday night's broadcast of the Golden Globes.

Winfrey accepted the lifetime achievement award and gave an acceptance speech that sounded a lot like an unofficial kickoff to a presidential bid in 2020 and has touched off an "Oprah for president" fervor.

Trump Jr. earlier Monday tweeted that it was proof of NBC's — and all media's — bias against his father, President Donald Trump.
