NCR Corp. confirmed that it will be shutting down both of its plants in Columbus, Georgia, later this year, resulting in the loss of more than 1,000 jobs, the Ledger-Enquirer reported.
The Atlanta-based company is shuttering another facility in Beijing, too, the Ledger-Enquirer reports.
More than 350 of those jobs are full-time employees while the rest are temps, the Ledger-Enquirer reports.
"While difficult, this move will help ensure that NCR maintains its position as the global leader in ATMs, self-checkout and point-of-sale devices as we accelerate our transformation," NCR spokesman Tim Henschel told the Ledger-Enquirer in an email statement Monday.
One facility will close in August and the other in October, the company told the Ledger-Enquirer.
