Actor James Woods has declared he will boycott the NFL because of the league's failure to discipline numerous players who are refusing to stand for the national anthem to protest what they consider racial discrimination.
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Woods said "they can say whatever they think. And I respect their constitutional right to do it. I hope they respect my constitutional right never to watch the NFL again. I will never watch the NFL again. Ever."
When asked what the NFL could do to have him change his mind, Woods remained adamant, saying. "I don't know, because I'm never going to watch them again."
Woods is well known for supporting conservative political causes and is active on Twitter in expressing his views.
When San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick started the trend among NFL players by refusing to stand for the national anthem during preseason games and declaring it would continue throughout the season, Woods was harsh in his criticism on Twitter.
Tommie Smith, one of the American athletes who gave the Black Power salute on the medal podium in the 1968 Olympic Games, told TMZ Sports he has decided to boycott films in which Woods appears because of the actor's numerous tweets on the issue, including calling Kaepernick a "dirtbag."
