Nikki Haley appears to enjoy poking the bear, mocking former President Donald Trump again about being confused in a post he made on Truth Social regarding the ballot deadline for Indiana's GOP primary.
In the Friday post, Trump criticized Haley, his lone remaining challenger for the Republican presidential nomination, for having to scramble to get on the ballot for the May 7 primary.
"Nikki Haley still scrambling in Indiana with democrat county clerk offices to 'verify' signatures and qualify for the ballot three days after the deadline," Trump wrote. "Not a good look!"
Haley shot back in a post on X, "Looks like he's confused again ..." with a confused emoji.
The deadline for Republican and Democrat presidential candidates to file for the Indiana primary is noon Feb. 9, according to the website of Indiana's Secretary of State. Trump likely was referring to the Tuesday deadline for candidates to file petitions for signature verification to get on the ballot.
It is not the first time Haley has needled Trump, 77, over his cognitive abilities. She also brought it up before the New Hampshire primary when Trump mixed up Haley for Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., during a rally by saying she oversaw security at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
"I mean, look, we've seen him get confused," she said. "He was confused about me having something to do with keeping security away from the Capitol. Clearly, he was talking about someone else."
Haley also reportedly pointed out that Trump in September said if President Joe Biden was reelected, he would lead the country into World War II instead of World War III.
Haley has said Trump and Biden, 81, are too old to serve as president, and the country needs a new generation of leaders.
Trump defended himself during a rally in Las Vegas on Jan. 27, alluding to his performance with the Montreal Cognitive Assessment while he was in the White House.
"There's only about 2% in this room can do it, but I did it. I did it very easily," Trump said. "But I got mocked — they said, 'Oh, that's so easy.' It's not easy. It's not easy. Go home and try doing it.
"Recently, I took another one because I had my physical exam, which worked out very nicely. I have an obligation to take a physical exam. Excellent exam. I took a cognitive test. Excellent. I would challenge most of the people running to cognitive tests because most of them couldn't come anywhere close."
