Movie-making maverick Oliver Stone interviews Russia's President Vladimir Putin in a new four-hour documentary, asking him point-blank, "Why did Russia hack the election?" a trailer of the film shows.
The answer won't come until "The Putin Interviews" premiers on Showtime next month, though the Russian president is filmed in the trailer, which was released Monday, laughing at the question.
The award-winning director of "Natural Born Killers," "Born on the Fourth of July," "Platoon," "Wall Street" and "JFK" conducted more than a dozen interviews with Putin, the last in February.
Showtime compares the Putin interviews' project to conversations held by British TV host David Frost and former President Richard Nixon in 1977.
The filmmaker had also interviewed Putin for his documentary "Ukraine on Fire," which was said to take a sympathetic view of Russia's involvement in the conflict there.
