Papa John's has a message for white supremacists: Don't buy our pizza.

The story began last week when Papa John's CEO John Schnatter said on a conference call he believes the NFL's handling of the national anthem protests is hurting the company's sales, since it is a major NFL sponsor.

"The NFL has hurt us by not resolving the current debacle to the players' and owners' satisfaction," Schnatter said. "NFL leadership has hurt Papa John's shareholders."

According to Newsweek, the comments garnered the attention of a white supremacist website, which published a photo of a pizza with pepperoni laid out in the shape of a swastika. The website also wrote, "Papa John: Official pizza of the alt-right?"

Papa John's shot down the suggestion in a statement sent to Newsweek.

"We condemn racism in all forms and any and all hate groups that support it" Papa John's senior director of public relations Peter Collins said. "We do not want these individuals or groups to buy our pizza."
