President Donald Trump is pleading ignorance in regards to military members and Vice President Mike Pence staying at Trump-owned hotels during international trips.
Over the weekend, it was reported that a joint Air Force and Alaska Air National Guard unit en route to Kuwait stayed at Trump Turnberry in Scotland, which is more than 50 miles from the airbase at which they landed for the overnight stay.
Monday morning, Trump said he had nothing to do with the matter.
"I know nothing about an Air Force plane landing at an airport (which I do not own and have nothing to do with) near Turnberry Resort (which I do own) in Scotland, and filling up with fuel, with the crew staying overnight at Turnberry (they have good taste!). NOTHING TO DO WITH ME," Trump wrote on Twitter.
Regarding Pence's decision to stay at Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Doonbeg in Ireland, which was 180 miles from the meetings he had in Dublin, Trump once again said he knew nothing about the issue.
"I had nothing to do with the decision of our great @VP Mike Pence to stay overnight at one of the Trump owned resorts in Doonbeg, Ireland. Mike's family has lived in Doonbeg for many years, and he thought that during his very busy European visit, he would stop and see his family!" Trump wrote.
Some Democrats have accused Trump of profiting off his presidency as people from both the U.S. and foreign governments stay at his hotels around the world.
