South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg said Thursday he is not in favor of favor of free college, declaring rich kids ought to pay "a little tuition."

In the second of two debates for Democratic presidential candidates, Buttigieg said "I just don't believe it makes sense to ask working class families to subsidize even the children of billionaires.

"The children of the wealthiest Americans can pay a little tuition," he added.

"While I want costs to go down, I don't think we can buy down every last penny for them."
