Rep. Peter King: 'Jihadi John's' Death Defies ISIS' Argument on Might

The likely death of infamous terrorist "Jihadi John" Mohamed Emwazi would be a "symbolic victory" over the Islamic State, Rep. Peter King said Friday, and he hopes that Emwazi is really dead.

"It will go against the ISIS narrative that they are always going to win and they are on top," said King, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, on Fox News' "America's Newsroom" program, noting that such an operation would be very difficult in Syria, where the military has little intelligence on the ground.

"I give the Defense Department tremendous credit," said King. "It finally will be made public what type of sources we have. We have very few people actually able to operate on the ground there, so this was a significant victory for the Defense Department, for the U.S. military, and I give them enormous credit."

And with someone like Emwazi, there had to be a commitment to kill him, said King, as there are restrictions that he believes sometimes go too far when it comes to innocent people being near such a wanted suspect.

Also on the program, King discussed the arrest of Akron resident Terrence J. McNeil, 25, who is charged with one count of solicitation of a crime of violence.

According to ABC News, McNeil allegedly listed names and addresses of military personnel online and called for people to "kill them in their own lands, behead them in their own homes, stab them to death as they walk their streets thinking that they are safe."

"It's a new front that ISIS opened against us," said King on Friday. "Also on the Fourth of July, there were ISIS operatives attempting to attack New York, and there were five operatives arrested then."

"It won't be a 9/11 style attack you have to be concerned about about," he continued. "But given that ISIS has strong social media skills and operatives in the country itself, certainly these types of attacks could kill innocent Americans."
