Americans believe made-up news is a bigger problem than violent crime, racism, illegal immigration, and terrorism, a new Pew Research Center survey reveals.
Here are the results when people were asked about the biggest problem facing the U.S. today:
- 70% said drug addiction.
- 67% – healthcare costs.
- 52% – U.S. political system.
- 51% – gap between the rich and poor.
- 50% – made-up news.
- 49% – violent crime.
- 46% – climate change.
- 40% – racism.
- 38% – illegal immigration.
- 34% – terrorism.
- 26% – sexism.
The poll, conducted Feb. 19-March 4, surveyed 6,127 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 1.6 percentage points.
