A prominent Democratic lobbying firm adjusted two disclosure forms to state that meetings were held and emails exchanged between the firm's leader Tony Podesta, and John Podesta, his brother, while John worked in the White House as President Barack Obama's adviser.

The Podesta Group made the adjustments after The Washington Free Beacon reported the group violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act — a rule that orders lobbyists for foreign governments to go on the record about interactions they have had with government officials and news outlets regarding their clients.

The meetings and emails happened in 2014 and 2015 with the government of India, a Podesta client since 2010, the Free Beacon reported. Both Podesta brothers met with Indian ambassador Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to the U.S. at the White House in 2014. Tony invited John to an event featuring Jaishankar in 2015.

John left his White House job as Obama's adviser in February 2015 to work for Hillary Clinton's startup presidential campaign. Other emails showed that after John left, Tony asked him for information on whom at the White House could discuss India's interests with him, according to the Free Beacon.

None of those events were included in the Podesta Group's original supplemental disclosure statements, the Free Beacon notes.
