The country is divided on the individual mandate of Obamacare, with 50 percent of Americans opposing the idea of revoking it, according to a new CNN/ORC poll.
Meanwhile, 48 percent of Americans favor revoking it, according to the poll.
The results:
- 60 percent of Democrats oppose it.
- Just 45 percent of Republicans and 43 percent of conservatives oppose it.
- 56 percent of conservatives favor revoking it.
- 50 percent of independents favor revoking it.
- 52 percent of millennials oppose revoking it.
Americans remain divided on Obamacare itself, with 46 percent in favor of it and 49 percent opposed, according to CNN/ORC.
Other results from the poll:
- 87 percent want to maintain protections for pre-existing conditions under the Affordable Care Act.
- 50 percent oppose providing tax credits on age vs. income.
- 66 percent favor allowing insurers selling across state lines.
- 61 percent oppose curbing federal funding for Medicaid.
Republicans are in strong support of insurers being able to sell across state lines, with 74 percent in favor of that, followed by 65 percent of independents and 61 percent of Democrats.
Interviews with 1,025 adult Americans conducted by telephone by ORC International on March 1-4, 2017. The margin of sampling error for results based on the total sample is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
