According to a poll done for DailyMail.com, voters asked to give a one-word response on the legacy of outgoing President Joe Biden landed on one word over any other: “nothing.”
Overall, 54% either “strongly” or “somewhat” agreed that they could not name a single achievement, according to the survey. Even 34% of Democrats and 52% of independents surveyed said they could not name one major Biden achievement, according to the poll published Sunday and conducted by J.L. Partners.
“As far as public opinion is concerned, you have to squint to see even the echoes of a legacy — and even then people are more likely to remember it negatively,” J.L. Partners co-founder James Johnson said in the analysis.
After “nothing,” the next most popular answers were “economy,” “inflation” and “infrastructure,” according to the survey. The latter is a nod to Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act) that passed in Congress in November 2021.
“Biden’s biggest achievements in office — such as legislation in Congress — are crowded out by the overriding view: That he was responsible for inflation, and that he was a mentally unwell commander in chief,” Johnson added.
Biden was also ranked as the worst president in modern memory, with a minus-30 rating, according to the survey. Biden beat our Richard Nixon (-25) for the worst. Ronald Reagan (+30) is No. 1, according to the survey.
Biden officially leaves office on Monday.
J.L. Partners conducted the survey of 1,009 registered voters. No other poll data was provided.
