Rasmussen Poll: Trump, DeSantis Each Beat Biden

By    |   Friday, 12 January 2024 10:51 AM EST

Former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis both hold leads over President Joe Biden in hypothetical election matchups, according to Rasmussen Reports.

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, though, trails Biden by two percentage points in another hypothetical 2024 presidential matchup, a new Rasmussen Reports survey found.

In a Trump vs. Biden scenario, the current GOP primary front-runner receives 49% support of likely voters and the president gets 41%. Another 8% say they would vote for another candidate, and 2% are undecided.

Trump's advantage largely is due to his 26-point margin (54%-28%) among independent voters. The former president also receives 79% support among Republican voters, and Biden gets 77% backing from Democrats.

When asked about a DeSantis vs. Biden election, 42% back the governor and 41% support Biden. Another 13% say they'd vote for another candidate, and 4% say they are undecided.

The Rasmussen Reports survey results also show that Biden would edge Haley, with 38% saying they'd vote for Biden and 36% saying they'd vote for Haley. Another 21% of likely voters say they'd vote for another candidate and 6% say they are undecided.

In a DeSantis-Biden matchup, the governor receives support of 68% of Republicans, 16% of Democrats, and 43% of unaffiliated voters. Biden gets 74% of Democrats, 13% of Republicans, and 33% of unaffiliated voters.

In a Haley-Biden matchup, the former South Carolina governor gets only 55% of Republicans, 14% of Democrats, and 40% of unaffiliated voters. Biden receives 72% support from Democrats, 14% of Republicans, and 23% of unaffiliated voters.

A Biden-Haley matchup would see 24% of Republicans and 26% of unaffiliated voters casting their ballots for another candidate.

Also, among those who would vote for Trump against Biden, 75% would vote for DeSantis against Biden. However, only 53% of Trump voters would vote for Haley against Biden, with 34% saying they would vote for another candidate.

Among women voters, Biden leads by five points against Trump, DeSantis, or Haley. However, Trump gets the highest percentage (49%) of women voters, while also winning men by a 49% to 39% margin against Biden.

DeSantis would win men by a seven-point margin against Biden, but the president would get 44% of women to the governor's 37%.

Perhaps surprisingly, Haley gets the lowest percentage (30%) of women voters, but would do better than Biden among men, 42% to 35%.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey was conducted Jan. 7-9 among 968 likely voters.
