While substantially more registered voters overall are against the idea than for it, Republicans are split whether President Donald Trump should return to reality TV after leaving the White House, according to a Morning Consult poll released on Tuesday.
Among Republicans, 38% said it was a good idea, while 31% said it was a bad idea, and 31% had no opinion.
Overall, only 26% of all voters thought it was a good idea (20% among Democrats), with 48% against it (61% of Democrats) and 26% had no opinion (19% of Democrats).
Trump is considering an attempt to reboot either “The Apprentice” or “The Celebrity Apprentice,” according to a report last week in the Daily Beast.
Other results from the survey included:
- Among all voters, 48% said it would be inappropriate for a major television network to work with Trump to bring the program back to television, while only 29% thought it would be appropriate and 23% had no opinion.
- As in the first question, there was a wide divide among registered Republicans and Democrats. Only 20% of Democrats thought it would be appropriate, while 66% said it would not be, while 45% of Republicans though it would be appropriate and just 26% said it would not be.
The survey was conducted between December 18-20 among 1,995 registered voters. It has an overall margin of error of 2 percentage points, while the Democrat and Republican subsamples have 3-point and 4-point margins of error, respectively.
