President Donald Trump hailed what he called a "perfectly executed strike" the U.S. conducted with allies in an attack against Syrian targets that began Friday night.

"A perfectly executed strike last night. Thank you to France and the United Kingdom for their wisdom and the power of their fine Military. Could not have had a better result. Mission Accomplished!" Trump tweeted Saturday.

"So proud of our great Military which will soon be, after the spending of billions of fully approved dollars, the finest that our Country has ever had. There won't be anything, or anyone, even close!" the president added.

Trump ordered U.S. forces Friday night to begin bombing specific targets in Syria with allies U.K. and France in response to an earlier chemical weapons attack reportedly conducted last week by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

More than 100 missiles pounded against Syrian targets identified with the country's chemical-weapons production. Russia, China and Iran condemned the attack as Russian officials called upon the United Nations Security Council to hold an emergency session.
