Most Americans would “definitely not vote” for President Donald Trump in the 2020 election, though there is little consensus on who should replace him in the latest poll from ABC News and The Washington Post.

The vast majority of Democrats and voters who lean Democrat are undecided about who should be the party’s nominee in the 2020 presidential election, with only former Vice President Joe Biden and California Sen. Kamala Harris winning more than five percent.

  • 43 percent of Dems and those who lean democrat have no opinion on the party’s nominee.
  • 9 percent chose Biden.
  • 98 percent chose Harris.

“The views, and the absence of loyalty to a particular candidate, were consistent through a range of demographic groups,” the Post notes. “Biden is slightly more popular among older voters, while Harris, who announced her presidential campaign while the poll was being taken, has a minimal edge among college graduates.”

Most Republicans and voters who lean Republican would nominate Trump to run again in 2020, though most voters in general would “definitely” not vote for him.

  • 66 percent of Republicans and 65 percent of those who lean GOP would nominate Trump in 2020.
  • 31 percent of Republicans and 32 percent of those who lean GOP would nominate someone else.
  • 56 of Americans said they would “definitely not vote” for Trump if he is the GOP nominee.
  • 14 percent would consider voting for him.
  • 28 percent would definitely vote for him.

The Post-ABC News poll surveyed 1,001 adults across America from Jan. 21 to Jan. 24, 2019 by phone, and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
