A Missouri elementary school principal was reportedly placed on leave after he tweeted pictures of a man and two children holding guns in response to a post from Parkland, Florida, mass shooting survivor and activist David Hogg.

The Platte County School District placed Compass Elementary School principal Chad Searcey on leave Thursday after learning about the posts. Searcey posted the images Tuesday, the Kansas City Star reported.

Screenshots show Searcey, in a response to a Hogg tweet calling for federal funding to research gun control, posted pictures of a man with his face covered holding a rifle, and two children shooting handguns.

Hogg quote-tweeted Searcey's post, which has since been deleted:

"Cool guns, you know what's more cool? Mom's and dads getting to see their kids graduate high school alive. Kids not having to step over bloodstained sidewalks on their way to school. Parents not coming home to find their child with a self inflicted gun shot wound."

"We understand why the public response has been strong with regard to student safety in our nation's schools," a release from the school announcing Searcey's leave stated, the Star reported.

"We intend to address the situation immediately and in a manner consistent with our Board of Education policies, as well as our goal of ensuring a safe and caring environment for our students, staff, and community."

Hogg has been a vocal gun-control activist since 17 of his former classmates and staff at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School were killed during a mass shooting Feb 14, 2018.
