CNN's ratings continue to slide and the network found its daytime audience nearly three times smaller as that of Fox News in May.
Mediaite cited figures from Nielsen that show the first ever 24-hour news channel is struggling to find and maintain viewers.
The day category, for example, saw CNN earn 553,000 viewers. That is compared to 912,000 viewers for MSNBC and 1,342,000 for Fox News. CNN's day viewership dropped 15% from the previous May. Both CNN (137,000 viewers) and MSNBC (134,000) also came up short to Fox News (231,000) in the 25-54 demographic.
CNN's evening programming was in an even deeper hole, as it averaged just 761,000 between 8 and 11 p.m. MSNBC (1,654,000 viewers) and Fox News (2,388,000) were well ahead.
President Donald Trump frequently criticizes CNN for reporting what he sees is fake news. He aired his thoughts on Twitter about the network's decreasing ratings in April, writing "Congratulations!"
