A real estate company is using the Secret Service detail at Trump Tower to leverage the sale of at least one apartment in the Manhattan high-rise.
According to Politico, Douglas Elliman Real Estate sent out an email to prospective buyers just days after Trump won last month's presidential election. A graphic on the email read:
"The best value in the most secure building in Manhattan. The new aminity [sic] — The United States Secret Service."
The email was in reference to a 1,052-square-foot condo priced at $2.1 million.
The Secret Service has been guarding Trump and his immediate family for several months. Now that he's the president-elect, that protection is even more intense.
Trump Tower has become a fortress of sorts, with Fifth Avenue chock-full of security. Business such as high-end jeweler Tiffany and Co., which sits next door to Trump Tower, have complained about sales being down because of the security measures, according to Forbes.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio requested up to $35 million in federal funds to cover Trump's security costs from the Nov. 8 election through inauguration day on Jan. 21.
