It doesn't make any sense for Democrats to continue refusing compromise on a deal for a wall at the nation's southern border, new Sen. Rick Scott said Tuesday.
"It's completely dysfunctional," the Florida Republican and former govenor, told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "They voted for it before. They want the government to open, but you can't get it done. Then they say they want border security, but gosh, 'we don't want barriers.' How does that make any sense?"
Scott also complained that the lawmakers are still getting paid, 'when they know other people that are out there working are not getting paid. If you don't have a budget and you shut down the government you shouldn't get paid."
Menawhile, "everybody ought to get in that room and say, 'look, we all agree on border security. We voted for it. Let's get something done.'" said the senator.
Scott added that if he was President Donald Trump, he would consider his options and take "every power" to make something happen.
"That's what the president ought to be doing because the Democrats, I guess they think this is good politics, they won't even negotiate with him," said Scott. "I worked with my legislature. Did I get it done exactly the way I wanted things done? No. But I know they had to win and we had to win to get something done for my state."
