The Republican National Committee on Friday voted unanimously to provide President Donald Trump its “undivided support” ahead of the 2020 election.

The RNC voted to approve a resolution giving its “undivided support for President Donald J. Trump and his effective Presidency” at its regular winter meeting in New Mexico this week.

The resolution was primarily sponsored by Carolyn McLarty, a committeewoman from Oklahoma, did admit some concern about appearing to shut out any potential contenders in the 2020 primary.

McLarty told the Washington Examiner that “my reason for doing it is to support the president. As you know, there’s been so much belittling and that kind of thing going on, Washington elites attacking the president, and that’s the focus of mine, to give him support, give him encouragement. I didn’t need to go beyond that.”

The committee also voted unanimously to re-elect Ronna Romney McDaniel as the party chair.
