Rush Limbaugh: Mueller Wants Congress to Impeach President

(C-SPAN)

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh says special counsel Robert Mueller "made it clear" Wednesday he wanted Congress to impeach President Donald Trump.

Mueller earlier in the day made his first public statements on his probe into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, saying Justice Department policy prevented him from bringing charges against a sitting president or filing sealed charges, telling reporters it was "not an option we would consider."

But he also said the two-year investigation did not clear the president of improper behavior and pointed out other ways to hold Trump accountable.

"Robert Mueller made it clear as a bell [Wednesday] that he wants to nail Donald Trump and he wants Donald Trump out of office, he just doesn't have the evidence – and so he's asked Congress to take over the job," Limbaugh said Wednesday on his radio show.

"He kept talking about how guidelines, regulations in the DOJ prevent the indicting of a sitting president. They can't do it. So, what was the purpose of this? Why do this investigation at all if from the very beginning you could not nail the president?

House Democrats are investigating Trump and, as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Wednesday, a case that is "very compelling to the American people."
