Report: 2 of Roger Stone's Associates Testify Before Grand Jury

Two of Roger Stone’s associates have testified before a grand jury hearing evidence in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election, CNN reports.

David Lugo, a filmmaker who interviewed Stone for a movie, and Tyler Nixon, a lawyer for Stone, President Donald Trump’s former campaign adviser, told the news outlet they have testified in recent weeks.

Lugo also told The Washington Post Tuesday that he has turned over hundreds of text messages, emails and Facebook messages to the grand jury.

Mueller is pursuing whether Stone had advance knowledge of WikiLeaks’ plans to release hacked Democratic emails that roiled the 2016 campaign and damaged Hillary Clinton’s White House bid.

In total, nine of Stone’s current and former associates have been called for questions as part of the Mueller probe. Stone is a longtime ally to Trump.

During the 2016 election, Stone allegedly communicated with online persona Guccifer 2.0, who was later to be revealed a Russian security officer. Stone also maintained contacts with WikiLeaks, which disseminated the hacked emails.

Lugo and Nixon last month told the Post that New York comedian Randy Credico was the source of the material for Stone’s statements and tweets about WikiLeaks.
