Alabama Senate Candidate Roy Moore Pulls Out Gun at Rally

(ABC News)

Roy Moore, an Alabama candidate for the U.S. Senate, displayed a handgun during a campaign rally on Monday, according to ABC News.

Moore is running for the Republican nomination against incumbent Sen. Luther Strange.

Moore said that negative ads claimed he did not support the Second Amendment, according to the ABC News report.

"I believe in the Second Amendment," Moore said at the rally, as he pulled the gun from his pocket, the ABC News report said.

In August, Moore pulled his wife's gun out of her purse during a candidate forum to discuss his support of the Second Amendment.

The Republican nomination will be contested in a runoff between Strange and Moore Tuesday.

President Donald Trump supports Strange, including appearing at a rally in Alabama on behalf of Strange, where Trump drew criticism for comments about National Football League players.

Steve Bannon, Trump's former chief strategist, supports Moore.

"I think Roy Moore's the guy that's going to respect Donald Trump and fight the establishment," Bannon said Monday on Fox News' "Hannity."
