Rudy Giuliani: Border Focus Should Be on Terrorism

By    |   Tuesday, 15 July 2014 10:56 PM EDT

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani thinks the border debate should be focused on the threat of terrorists crossing into the country undetected.

The public and politicians are debating what to do about the influx of children illegally entering the United States from Central American countries, but Giuliani says that if children can just walk across the border, so can terrorists, drug dealers and murderers.

"When they hear things like this, that the border is so insecure, then they're invited to do it," Giuliani said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's "Hannity."

The Blaze reported in June that Border Patrol agents reported finding Korans, Islamic prayer rugs and other items associated more with the Middle East than with Central America along the border.

"Isn't it an advertisement to terrorists?" Giuliani said on Fox News. "It gives you a game plan on how to get into this country without getting detected."

Giuliani, mayor of New York during the 9/11 terror attacks, said the only way to stop the flow is with a physical presence at the border.

No matter what one's views are about people who are already in the U.S. illegally, he said, everyone should agree on a secure border and proper identification to enter.
