Giuliani: '50 Important People' Would Have Wanted Epstein Dead

By    |   Tuesday, 13 August 2019 10:51 AM EDT

Jeffrey Epstein was a "high-risk" prisoner, and it's "mindboggling" that he was found in his jail cell after a suspected suicide, as there were numerous people who would have wanted the accused sex trafficker dead, President Donald Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani said Tuesday.

"There's probably 50 very important people who have a motive to kill him," Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "Not alleging anyone named, but it's true. We know some people are in a lot of trouble because of Epstein and they know who they are. There's tremendous motive to kill him."

The Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan, where Epstein was found dead, is a small facility, Giuliani added, and "almost everything is within view" of guards.

"This argument whether he was on suicide watch or not is silly," said Giuliani. "There's no excuses."

Also, he argued, Epstein could have been in danger from prisoners, as he was "alleged to maybe be the most notorious child predator of our generation."

"Prisoners are strange," said Giuliani. "Perverts they don't like. They'll kill a pervert just to kill a pervert. Second, he's a possible rat also. There (was) a lot of talk about him testifying."

He pointed out that only about a week went by between when Epstein first tried to kill himself and when he was found dead on Aug. 10.

"I never heard the policy you're on suicide watch for a week," he said. "The conditions were no different the day he attempted suicide."
