Rudy Giuliani: Obama Should Be Leading Coalition Against Radical Islam

By    |   Wednesday, 04 February 2015 07:53 PM EST

The United States should be leading a coalition against Islamic terrorism rather than following, and that coalition should include large nations such as Russia and China, says former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.

Despite our nations' differences, Russia and China share a common enemy in radical Islam, Giuliani said Wednesday on Fox News Channel's "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren."

"Now we have got the king of Jordan
… leading with a small little army," he said.

Giuliani is critical of President Barack Obama's administration for failing to label the enemy "Islamic extremists."

The failure to do so, Giuliani said, not only prevents other nations from coalescing behind the United States on a clearly defined enemy, but also does a disservice to Muslims in general because no distinction is made between them and the terrorists.

"A leader can't expect people to follow him if is he ambiguous," Giuliani said.

The former mayor also blamed the rise of the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq on Obama's failure to leave any U.S. troop presence in the country.

"When you don't have them there, you don't get information," Giuliani said. "He was obviously getting the wrong information about ISIS and it's directly attributable to him pulling the troops out."

Less than a year ago, Obama was referring to ISIS as a "JV squad." Today, it controls large areas or Iraq and Syria, and its network has extended in other countries, now rivaling al-Qaida.
