Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh on Monday skewered Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis for fudging her life story to paint herself as a self-made teenage mother — alleging she may have committed "perjury in furtherance of her myth-making."
"Her story . . . just isn't true. She's a liberal Democrat,"
Limbaugh told listeners, according to a transcript of the show.

"They make things up. They lie, just like Hillary and Obama lied about a video in Benghazi
. . . She lied about her life story."
Limbaugh said
Davis' account of being a teenage mother living in a trailer park and scraping her way through college and Harvard Law School "is now out the window."
"She lived a luxury lifestyle," he said. "She had a big house, private schools for her kids. The divorce allegations of her adultery, the loss of custody of the two daughters and the fact that she was ordered to pay spousal support, why, all of this is shocking and new. We didn't know any of this before. Do you know how hard it is for a mother to lose custody these days?"
Limbaugh said that in relating her biography, Davis "might have committed perjury in furtherance of her myth-making."
After a
Dallas Morning News story Monday questioned the details of the biography Davis touts on the stump, she acknowledged problems with her public version.
For example, Davis —
whose filibuster last June against a state abortion law catapulted her into the headlines and
helped her collect big contributions to power her gubernatorial run, acknowledged that she was 21, not 19, when she got divorced, and that her second husband helped put her through school; she said they shared custody of their daughters.
In a statement released later Monday, Davis also slapped back at what she portrayed as gubernatorial rival "Greg Abbott's campaign attacks on the personal story of my life as a single mother who worked hard to get ahead."
"But they won
't work, because my story is the story of millions of Texas women who know the strength it takes when you're young, alone and a mother," she said.
"And I guarantee you that anyone who tries to say otherwise hasn't walked a day in my shoes."
Politico reported that a Davis spokeswoman said unnamed reporters "independently verify these attacks are coming from Greg Abbott's campaign."
But a Dallas Morning News reporter Sunday posted on Twitter that "in researching, I talked to no — zero — Abbott people," Politico reported.
Abbott spokesman Matt Hirsch charged that "Sen. Wendy Davis systematically, intentionally and repeatedly deceived Texans for years about her background, yet she expects voters to indulge her fanciful narrative," Politico reported.
Social media was having a field day, CNN reported.
