Huckabee Says Sarah Sanders Running for Governor 'Could Happen'

By    |   Friday, 14 June 2019 03:01 PM EDT

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee won’t dismiss the possibility of his daughter, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, running for governor.

His comments came on Friday during an interview on the Fox Business Network’s show, “Varney & Co." President Donald Trump, in announcing Sanders would leave her job at the end of the month, had tweeted: “I hope she decides to run for governor of Arkansas – she would be fantastic.”

Huckabee was asked if she would make a bid for the office.

“I have no idea,” he said. “It could happen. I tell you this it’s the greatest job in the world.”

Huckabee said it was a difficult decision for his daughter to step down from her White House job.

“She loved her job,” he said. “Let me tell you, it’s been hard for her to make this decision because she loved the job, loved every bit of it and she loves the president.”
