Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said on Wednesday that healthcare in the United States will become like the scandal-plagued Veterans Administration unless voters elect leaders "who'll buck the march to socialized medicine known as Obamacare."
"Government healthcare will not reduce the cost, it will simply refuse to pay the cost," the 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate said in a posting on her
Facebook page. "Friends, that's rationed care. That's the VA today. That's what's got to change.
"That's why Congress has got to change because until we elect leaders . . . who'll buck the march to socialized medicine known as Obamacare, America's healthcare system will go the way of the VA," she added. "That's why Obama's Democrat Party must be defeated in the ballot box in November."
Palin's posting was the
second slap in as many days at President Barack Obama for his delayed response to the VA scandal. She said on Tuesday that the president and his advisers had a "knows nothing, sees nothing, and hears nothing unless his lapdogs bark" approach regarding the agency's keeping of secret waiting lists.
On Wednesday, Obama vowed to hold VA officials accountable for delaying treatment to returning veterans and ordered
Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Nabors to make recommendations on fixing the troubled agency. He appointed Nabors to investigate the VA last week.
"America is still the strongest nation on earth; outside forces won't ruin us," Palin said on Facebook. "We will only destroy ourselves if the status quo doesn't go."
