New White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci was caught on a hot mic Sunday saying it's time to mend the relationship with CNN, BuzzFeed reported.

Scaramucci said he called on reporter Sara Murray during his first White House press briefing Friday as a shout-out to CNN president Jeff Zucker.

"In the back of my mind I have to call on CNN and send a message to Zucker that we are back in business," Scaramucci said, according to the transcript obtained by BuzzFeed.

Scaramucci was pleased Zucker fired three staffers over an errant story that attempted to connect Scaramucci to Russia in a nefarious way, helping him get the new White House gig.

Zucker "helped me get the job by hitting those guys," Buzzfeed reported from the transcript.

CNN has been in the crosshairs of President Donald Trump, who has singled out the news channel as a purveyor of "fake news."

"I'm trying to de-escalate the tension across the entire media spectrum," Scaramucci told BuzzFeed Sunday night.
